I am a native New Yorker and transplanted Bostonian, and now make my home in West Palm Beach, Florida. I am the proud single Mom of two entrepreneurial sons and my family and friends mean the world to me. I enjoy virtually all things social including good food paired with good red wine, the arts, sports, traveling and admittedly indulging in the casino on occasion.
A graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology with an AAS in Advertising Communications, Emerson College with a BS in Mass Communications, Simmons College with an MS in Communications Management and New England Law with my JD, I have been a practicing civil litigator devoting my legal acumen, along with my leadership, guidance and governance to the firms and clients I have been associated with for 25 years.
I previously worked in advertising, negotiating various contracts for the production of radio and television commercials, which is what led me to law school. Following law school, I was growing a solo law practice until I joined forces to partner with my mentor to take on the daunting task of helping hundreds of clients left without counsel from a law firm that was forced to close its doors due to disbarment.
Then, while trying to build that law firm and without warning, family illness significantly impacted the lives of myself and my children, as well as my professional life. I was emotionally and physically spent and unable to hold up my end of the commitment to my family or my business. I needed to change my environment and give great thought to what I wanted for my family. So, in 2000, I relocated myself and my children to Florida to re-start our lives. I took a hiatus from the practice of law to spend more time with my boys by becoming Asst. Director in the elementary school aftercare program. This afforded time to acclimate and re-focus. Despite another illness setback, this time my own, 2 years after arriving in Florida, I was able to achieve the goal of becoming a member of the Florida Bar. I was then recruited to join a well-known insurance defense law firm where I ultimately took on the role of Managing Partner to fulfill my tenure.
I remain a member of the Massachusetts Bar and an active member of the Florida Bar, where I am authorized to appear in affiliated state and federal courts. I have been an active member in a variety of legal community and bar organizations and a frequent educator and speaker for industry clients, attorneys and students alike. I have also been an active community volunteer for youth sports (including a stint as a T-Ball coach!) and in the public schools.
My ethic follows the Japanese proverb that “The reputation of a thousand years may be undermined by the conduct of one hour.”
