Michael Hudkins
Law Firm Management & Marketing Advisor

I decided on a career in service to others initially as the founding, and senior partner of a CPA firm in the Midwest, assisting small businesses and professional practices to grow to their fullest potential. The business of a CPA firm and that of a small law firm are significantly similar so there was a logical progression into law office administration. I started as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of a larger, regional, multi-office law firm, then transitioned to Chief Operating Officer (COO) of two other larger, multi-office law firms. During my tenure in one of the firms, I co-authored, with the managing partner, a book entitled “Lawyer’s Guide to Strategic Planning” published by the American Bar Association. Subsequently I served on the Management Core Group of the Law Practice Management Section (LPM) of the ABA, and also served as Vice-Chairman of the Finance Core Group of the LPM section.

I have found that assisting others to realize their goals was one of the greatest measures of professional satisfaction. My firm helped a small, local, inventor, take his new design of zero turning lawnmowers from his garage, to a national sales and distribution force exceeding Eighty Million dollars in annual revenues. I helped another client take his little vehicle striping and decal business to an eventual sale to 3M for three million dollars. I found creative financing and developed a small, Florida aircraft kit manufacturer into an international sales entity, and negotiated its multi-million dollar sale to an international consortium. As a former adjunct faculty in a prestigious Midwestern University, I derived great satisfaction when it became obvious that students’ “light came on” and understood the complex concepts of accountancy.

My passion has enticed me to develop a SCUBA diving school because I had always wanted that experience. I learned to fly, initially in the Army, then continued in civilian life becoming a multi-engine, instrument rated fixed wing pilot. I studied martial arts and became a black belt in Tae Kwon Do, but my true passion is music. I enjoy finger-style guitar, and love song-writing and performance in an Americana/Roots folk-style band.
